Connecting to Optimum WiFi: Kindle Touch

The Kindle Touch is WiFi enabled and can be used with Optimum WiFi to access the Internet. Optimum WiFi will enable you to surf the Web and access your favorite applications.
Simply follow the steps outlined below and you'll be surfing the Web with Optimum WiFi in no time.

Enable WiFi

  1. Tap the Menu button and select Settings.
  2. Tap WiFi.
  3. Make sure WiFi is set to ON.

Connect to the Optimum WiFi Network

Once WiFi is turned on, it's easy to connect to Optimum WiFi. From the Kindle Touch's desktop:
  1. Tap the Menu button and select Settings.
  2. Tap WiFi. Wait a moment as your Kindle Touch detects the WiFi networks in range.
  3. Find optimumwifi from the list of available networks (SSIDs) and tap it.
  4. Wait a few seconds while your Kindle Touch connects.
Once you've joined a WiFi network manually, your Kindle Touch automatically joins it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, your device will join the one last used.

Sign In to Optimum WiFi

Once you've connected to the Optimum WiFi network, simply launch your web browser and you will be taken to the Optimum WiFi sign in page.
  1. Enter your Optimum ID.
  2. Enter your Password.
  3. Review the Terms of Service and tap the check box signifying agreement.
  4. Then select either Automatic Sign In or Manual Sign In. If you choose to register your device with automatic sign in, your device will connect automatically each time you come within range of an Optimum WiFi hotspot. Click here for additional information about automatic sign in. When using manual sign in, you will have to enter your Optimum ID and password each time you sign in.

Connecting To Optimum WiFi: Android Devices

Android devices are WiFi enabled and can be used with Optimum WiFi to access the Internet.

Enable WiFi

  1. From the HOME screen, tap the MENUbutton
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Wireless & networks


  4. Tap the WiFi check box in order to turn WiFi on. The phone will scan for available wireless networks.




Connect to the Optimum WiFi Network

  1. Tap WiFi settings. The network names and security settings of detected WiFi networks will be displayed in the WiFi networks section.


  2. Find optimumwifi from the list of available networks (SSIDs) and tap it. You will then be automatically connected to the Optimum WiFi network.

Also, the WiFi icon  will appear in your phone's status bar at the top of the screen when it's connected to a WiFi network. It will show connection strength as well. So the more bars you see, the stronger your WiFi connection. Once you've joined a WiFi network manually, your Droid automatically joins it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, your device will join the one last used.

Finding the MAC Address on a Samsung Smartphone

The Media Access Control (MAC) address is a unique 12-character identifier (e.g. 00-00-00-XX-00-X0) for a specific piece of hardware, like the network adapter located in WiFi devices.

If you are using Optimum.net to register a WiFi device, you'll need to to know the device's MAC address. Registering a device allows you to access the Optimum WiFi network without having to login.

Finding the MAC Address on a Samsung Smartphone

To locate the MAC Address of your WiFi-enabled Samsung smartphone, follow these steps:

  1. From the main screen, select Menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select WiFi.
  4. Select Available networks.
  5. Select Options.
  6. Select View Details.
  7. Scroll to Handset MAC Address.
